Meet Dr. Stuart Guey
Education and Experience
Dr. Stuart Guey has served his patients with compassion and understanding in private practice since 1975. He is a native of Plaquemines Parish, born in Port Sulphur, raised in Empire, and a longtime resident of Belle Chasse.
Education:
Dr. Guey graduated from Buras High School in 1967, earned a B.S. degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1971, and graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 1975.
Community Involvement:
Dr. Guey has always been actively involved in the community. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse since 1977; serving as president for four of those years. He was named Rotarian of the Year in 1983, 1988 and 2005. He served as Assistant District Governor of District 6840 for two years, Deputy District Governor for three years and has served as District Rotary Foundation Chairman from 2000-2006. Dr. Guey currently serves as the District 6840 Youth Services Chair from 2016-2018. Dr. Guey received the Rotary Foundation Certificate for Meritorious Service in 2005 and has been recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Guey has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for New Orleans and the River Region.
He served as chairman of the Business Education Partnership from 1983-1984 and as chairman of the Plaquemines Council of the Chamber of Commerce from 1984-1985. He also served as a member of the Plaquemines Parish Commission Council; representing District 4 of Belle Chasse from 1982-1986 and Commissioner of Health. Dr. Guey is an active parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Belle Chasse. He served as a Catechist (Religion Teacher) from 1999-2007, as a Pastoral Council Member from 2003-2006, and as Council Chairman in 2006. In 2006, he was given the honor of being selected as the King of the 2006 Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival. Dr. Guey was elected to the Plaquemines Parish Council representing District 4 in October 2008 and reelected in 2010. He served as the Parish Council Chairman in 2011 and Plaquemines Port Harbor and Terminal District Chairman in 2013 and 2014. He was a member of the WYES Community Advisory Board and served as Chairman in 2011 and 2012. He has also been voted "Top Dentist" by his peers in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 as published in the New Orleans magazine.
Family:
Dr. Guey has been married to the former Valerie Munsterman since 2012. He has four children, Deandra Guey, Leah Guey, Stuart (Trey) Guey, III, and Emilyn Guey, and three grandchildren with Barbara Guey (deceased).
